At Lúill, I’ve always believed knitwear is something you should be able to keep for years.
Growing up, knitwear was something you returned to each season. Pieces that lasted, that softened over time, and became part of your everyday. That idea has stayed with me, and it continues to shape how we design at Lúill.
Each piece is created using 100% natural fibres, cashmere, merino wool, and lambswool. All chosen not only for their softness, but for how they wear over time. With the right care, they’re made to last for years.
How you care for your knitwear matters just as much as how it’s made. The good news is, it doesn’t need to be complicated.
Wash less, air more
Natural fibres don’t need frequent washing. In most cases, simply laying your knitwear flat and allowing it to air out between wears is enough to refresh it.
Wash gently in cold water
When washing is needed, always use cold water and a mild detergent. Hand washing is the safest way to maintain the softness and shape of your knitwear.
Handle with care
Avoid wringing or friction, which can damage delicate fibres. Instead, gently roll your knitwear in a towel to remove excess moisture.
Dry flat to maintain shape
Always lay your knitwear flat to dry, reshaping it while still damp. Avoid direct sunlight and heat, and never tumble dry, as this can alter the fit and feel of the garment.
Fold, don’t hang
Knitwear should always be folded rather than hung. Hanging can cause the fibres to stretch over time and lose their shape.
Maintain the finish
Pilling is a natural part of wearing knitwear. To keep your pieces looking their best, use a knitwear comb to gently remove any pills, following the natural grain of the knit.
Caring for your knitwear is ultimately about preserving what you value.
These small, thoughtful habits help your pieces hold their shape, their softness, and their place in your wardrobe, so you can return to them, season after season. Because the goal isn’t more, it’s fewer, better pieces. Made to be worn often, and made to last.
